FAQs
Whether you’re navigating coeliac disease, managing food intolerances, exploring sensory-based ARFID, or simply trying to eat well on a budget—I’ve got you covered. Below are answers to some of the most common questions I get. If you’re wondering about something that’s not listed here, feel free to reach out. No question is too small when it comes to your health and relationship with food.
Monthly Group Support Membership
How many families are in each group?
Groups are kept small usually a maximum of 15 families – so everyone has space to share, ask questions, and feel supported.
How long are the sessions?
Each weekly session lasts 90 minutes, giving time for the theme, questions, and practical strategies.
Do I need to attend every session?
No. You can join as often as you’re able. Many families attend each session, others dip in and out depending on routines and energy levels.
Will I need to speak during the sessions?
Only if you want to. Some parents share, others prefer to listen quietly, both are completely fine.
Can I bring my child to the sessions?
These sessions are for parents and carers only, so you can focus without worrying about little ears listening.
Do I need to attend every session?
You’ll still receive the weekly tools and resources, and you can ask questions in the private group space.
What if I need more personalised help?
You can add 1‑to‑1 support at any time. Group members receive a discounted rate.
Is there a minimum commitment?
No. Most families stay for several months because progress takes time, but you can cancel at any point.
Getting Started with Support
Do you offer meal plans?
I don’t offer strict meal plans—and that’s intentional. Instead, I’ll help you build confidence in choosing foods that suit your nutritional needs, preferences, and lifestyle. Whether you’re managing coeliac disease, navigating food intolerances, or working with ARFID, flexibility is key. Together, we’ll create practical strategies so you can enjoy food without stress—even when plans change or you’re eating out.
How many appointments will I need?
Everyone’s journey is different. I offer flexible, monthly rolling support so you can progress at your own pace. Most clients find that 3 months gives enough time to build momentum and see meaningful change—but we’ll always go at your pace.
I don’t enjoy cooking or have very little time—can you still help?
Absolutely. Not everyone loves cooking—and that’s okay. I’ll help you find simple, low-effort meals that suit your tastes, time constraints, and nutritional needs. Whether it’s batch cooking, one-pan meals, or no-cook options, we’ll make food work for you, not the other way around.
Coeliac Disease & Food Intolerances
Can you help me if I have coeliac disease or food intolerances?
Yes, absolutely. I specialise in supporting people with:
- Coeliac disease
- Non-coeliac gluten sensitivity
- Lactose intolerance
- Other suspected or diagnosed food intolerances
We’ll work together to ensure your diet is safe, balanced, and enjoyable—without unnecessary restrictions. I also offer guidance on label reading, cross-contamination, and eating out safely.
Do you offer testing for intolerances?
I don’t provide tests directly, but I can support you in accessing appropriate testing through your GP or privately. Many at-home intolerance tests lack scientific backing and often lead to unnecessary food restrictions. If you suspect an intolerance, we’ll use evidence-based methods—like a short-term exclusion diet—to identify triggers safely.
I’ve just been diagnosed with coeliac disease—where do I start?
Getting a coeliac diagnosis can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it all out alone. I’ll guide you through:
- Understanding what gluten is and where it hides
- Reading food labels with confidence
- Preventing cross-contamination at home and when eating out
- Building a balanced gluten-free diet that doesn’t feel restrictive
You’ll leave our sessions feeling equipped and empowered.
Sensory-Based ARFID & Fussy Eating
Can you help with ARFID or picky eating?
If your food challenges are rooted in sensory sensitivities—like texture, taste, or smell—I can help. My approach is gentle and non-judgmental, focusing on expanding safe foods at a pace that feels manageable.
What are the different types of ARFID—and which do you support?
ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) can show up in different ways. The three main types are:
- Sensory-based avoidance: Difficulty eating due to taste, texture, smell, or appearance of food
- Fear-based avoidance: Avoiding food due to fear of choking, vomiting, or other negative consequences
- Low appetite or lack of interest: Limited eating due to low hunger cues or disinterest in food
I specialise in sensory-based ARFID. I don’t work with those whose ARFID is rooted in fear or appetite-related challenges, but I will happily refer you to a trusted specialist.
Budget-Friendly Eating
Can you help me eat well on a budget?
Definitely. Eating well doesn’t have to mean spending more. I’ll help you:
- Plan affordable, nutritious meals
- Make the most of store cupboard staples
- Reduce food waste
- Shop smartly without compromising on health
Whether you’re cooking for one or feeding a family, we’ll tailor strategies to your budget and lifestyle.
